Hello San Diego!

Due to the holiday this week and next weekend's mega-event December Nights, the number of events happening around town has dipped just a bit, but we've found some good ones!

Friday (today), there will be a Pakistan Flood Relief Youth Fashion & Talent Show in Balboa Park. Malaysian stand-up comedian and internet celebrity Nigel Ng will have a show at the House of Blues.

Saturday at the Balboa Theatre, you can watch The Sound of Music and join in the sing-along to the captioned lyrics. At the Normal Heights Community Center, guitarist Juan Moro and cantaora Angelita Agujetas will present their Embracing Cante Libre program.

Sunday, the British rom-com Love Actually will screen atop the Manchester Grand Hyatt downtown. South Korean DJ and record producer Peggy Gou will perform at Soma. Banda los de la Empresa will play at Juan Tequila Bar & Restaurant.

Tuesday, To Kill a Mockingbird opens at the Civic Theatre. At Congregation Beth Israel, Dr. Yuval Gadot will deliver a talk on New Archaeological Findings from Ancient Jerusalem. At Point Loma Assembly, the wonderful master guitarist Fred Benedetti will perform classical, folk, and Spanish music. At USD's Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice, English biographer Andrew Morton will discuss his new book, The Queen. At Tuesday's SDSU basketball game, Native American Heritage Night will include special ceremonies and performances honoring Native American communities and culture.

Wednesday, Warwick's will host online Sarah Federman as she discusses her new book, Last Train to Auschwitz: The French National Railways and the Journey to Accountability. Ukulele great Jake Shimabukuro will return to Balboa Theatre to present his annual Christmas In Hawaii Concert.

Next Thursday at Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center, Mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard and guitarist Pablo Sainz-Villegas will showcase the magnificent musical traditions of Spain.

Next Friday and Saturday, the December Nights at Balboa Park will return with performances, food, drink, and countless vendors selling all manners of seasonal and unique stuff.

Next Friday, A Merry-achi Christmas concert will take place at Balboa Theatre featuring Sol De México De José Hernández. The San Diego French American School will screen Mystère.

Next Saturday at the Good Samaritan Episcopal Church, Moldavian pop opera group Brio Sonores will perform with Ukrainian-American rock star Ksana Sergienko.

Next Sunday at the Educational Cultural Complex, the play Hairitage will be performed. Spanish pop band La Oreja de Van Gogh will perform at the Magnolia Performing Arts Center in El Cajon.

Cross-cultural/international-themed theatrical offerings in San Diego include Baskerville at Lamb's Players Theatre in Coronado, As You Like It at the La Jolla Playhouse, and To Kill a Mockingbird at the Civic Theatre (opens next Tuesday).

Lastly, don't forget to check out Ongoing and Extended Events as well the generous number of International Films screening in local theaters!
